Tatami cores

A board made using compressed wood fibres. This board is available in many thicknesses from 15mm right through to 60mm and as it is made from compressed wood pulp is is considered eco friendly and human friendly

Available in thicknesses from 15mm to 30mm these specialist mats are made to be used over floors that have underfloor heating in them. The boards are made from wood fibres and also have holes drilled through them to allow the heat to pass

The rice straw core has been used in Japan for centuries now. It is only available in a thickness of 60mm and cannot be order in oversized mats. In modern Japan this kind of mat is rarely used now with lighter and more economical cores being available. It is however the best selling core in Europe as people enjoy its history and also its natural origins.
